The British Council is pleased to announce the eighth year of its Study UK Alumni Awards programme celebrating the outstanding achievements of UK alumni around the world.

The awards winners and finalists are leaders in their fields who have used their experience of studying at a UK university to make a positive contributionto their communities, industries and countries. This year’s award categories include science and sustainability, business and innovation, creativity and culture and social action.

The Study UK Alumni Awards celebrate and showcase the impact and value of a UK higher education and raise the international profile of UK alumni, their former universities, and the whole of UK education.

The call for applications opened on 1 September 2021 and closes on 29 October 2021. UK university alumni can apply themselves or be nominated by someone else. All eligible applicants will be put forward for the global Alumni Awards and national Alumni Awards which will be hosted in participating countries.

Aida Salamanca, Country Director at the British Council in UAE, said: “The Alumni Awards provide an excellent opportunity to showcase the significant contributions alumni have made to their communities and to UAE’s economy as a whole. We encourage all alumni to apply for the Study UK Alumni Awards.  These awards can be used as a platform to inspire others and showcase the combined strengths of hardworking UAE students and the importance of a UK education.”

The awards are open to alumni currently residing in any country outside the UK, who have either studied in the UK, at an officially recognised provider of UK university degree level study for a minimum of a term or semester, or who have been awarded a full UK degree level qualification (or higher), by a UK university through a local institution overseas, within the last 15 years.
